Teams await Euro 16 draw

The Euro 2016 qualifying draw will be held today in Nice.

For the first time the hosts are also part of the draw as this helps them with competitive matches but with points to play for.

France will host the 2016 European championships that will also see Gibraltar enter a qualifying draw for the first time.

Here are the qualifying pots for the Euro 2016 draw:

Pot 1: Spain (holders), Germany, Netherlands, Italy, England, Portugal, Greece, Russia, Bosnia-Hercegovina

Pot 2 : Ukraine, Croatia, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Ireland

Pot 3 : Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Israel, Norway, Slovakia, Romania, Austria, Poland

Spain tops scoring chart

The Euro 2012 winners Spain scored the most goals in the tournament.

Going into the final they were two goals behind Germany but scoring four goals in the final made sure they jumped the 2008 runner-up.

In total 76 goals were scored and here is table showing the goals scored starting with the lowest:

Spain wins Euro 2012

Spain successfully defended its European championship title with a 4-nil win over Italy.

This is Spain's third title and they become the first team to successfully defend its title.

The champions conceded only one goal in the whole and ironically this came against Italy in the group stages.

Italy to meet Spain in final

Italy will meet defending champions Spain in the final of Euro 2012.

Italy beat Euro 2008 finalists Germany 2-1 in the semis to set a date against Group C rival Portugal.

Spain beat Portugal 4-2 after a goalless 120 minutes on penalties to reach the final.

The Euro 2012 semis produced 3 goals.

2 goals were scored in the first half whilst 1 were scored after half-time.

Italy advances after shoot-out

The last match of the Euro 2012 was decided on penalties after England and Italy could not find the next after 120 minutes.

Italy won the penalty shoot-out 4-2 and will now face Germany in the semis.

The result means England leave the tournament without losing in open play.

The Euro 2012 quarter-finals produced 9 goals .

2 goals were scored in the first half whilst 7 were scored after half-time.

Defensive show: England vs Italy

England and Italy will meet in the last quarter-final after showing good defensive capabilities and avoiding defeats in their group matches.

This is the only quarter-final matches that features both who go into the match undefeated.

England finished its group with two wins over Ukraine and Sweden and a draw against France.

Italy started with a draw against Spain which was followed by another draw against Croatia before a win over Ireland.

Italy hasn't conceded more than one goal in a match but England did that against Sweden.

Showdown: Spain vs France

Defending champions Spain meet France in a quarter-final match to decide who meets Portugal in the semis.

Spain have so far not lost a match but they only dropped points in a draw against Italy in their opening match.

France on other hand lost their last group match against Sweden but still managed to qualify second from the group after a draw against England and a win over Ukraine.

Crunch time: Germany vs Greece

Germany will face Greece in the second quarter-final of the Euro 2012 tournament.

Germany finished the group phase with nine points and finished with four.

Greece won one, drew one and lost one and finished second because of a better head-to-head record over Russia.

Germany lost in the Euro 2008 final and will be hoping to go one step further should they navigate past Greece.

The winner in this match will meet either England or Italy.

Spain tops the scoring charts

Sixty goals have been scored so far in the Euro 2012 tournament with defending champions Spain contributing a tenth of them.

The most popular number of goals scored at the group phase is five with five teams scoring five goals.

Of those five, Russia and Sweden could not qualify to the quarter-finals.

Interestingly Greece and France scored three goals only but had enough points and head to head advantage to reach the knockout stage.

Ireland could only muster one goal and below is the table showing all the goals by each team:

Germany's perfect record

At the ongoing Euro 2012 tournament, only Germany finished the group stages without dropping a point.

Spain and England each won two and drew the other one to finish with seven points.

On the other side of the table, Ireland and Netherlands finished their tournaments pointless.

England and France deny co-host Ukraine

The Euro 2012 round 3 produced 14 goals with both co-hosts getting knocked out.

6 goals were scored in the first half whilst 8 were scored after half-time.

Both Poland and Ukraine did not qualify for the quarter-finals despite the home support.

England won Group D after beating Ukraine 1-nil whilst Sweden got their first victory beating France 2-nil.

England will now meet Italy whilst France will meet defending champions Spain.

Spain, Italy advance in Group C

Defending champions Spain advanced to the quarter-finals of the Euro 2012 competition after beating Croatia 1-nil.

The defending champions left it late to score the goal that meant they finished top of Group C.

Italy also advanced after overcoming Ireland 2-nil. Ireland were already out of the competition for a quarter-final place after losing the first two matches.

Spain will meet the runners from Group D whilst Italy will face the winners of that group.

Portugal knocks out the Dutch

Portugal knocked out pre-tournament favourites the Netherlands after beating them 2-1.

The Netherlands needed to win by at least a two goal margin but in the end the 2010 World Cup have left the tournament winless.

The Germans top Group B and will play Greece in the quarter finals whilst the Czech Republic will play Portugal.

Euro 2012 kicks off

The Euro 2012 championship kicks off today with co-hosts Poland taking on former champions Greece in Group A.

The second match of the tournament will see Russia play the Czech Republic.

This is the last Euro tournament that will feature 16 teams with the next edition in France going to feature 24 teams.

The Netherlands will kick off Group B with its match against Denmark and the second match in that group will feature Germany against Portugal.

Group C will start with a blockbuster match with the last two champions clashing as Spain take on Italy.

The Republic mark their return to the tournament when they play Croatia.

In Group D, France will face England before co-hosts Ukraine meet Sweden.

Capello resigns from England job

Fabio Capello has resigned from his job as England manager.

This follows the stripping of John Terry as England manager on Monday.

Capello took England to the 2010 South African World Cup and was scheduled to take England to the 2012 Euro being hosted by Poland and Ukraine.

His resignation leaves England with less than five months to pick up a new manager to take the team to the summer tournament.

Spain grouped with Italy at Euro 2012

The draw for the Euro 2012 has been made and in Group C Spain will be joined by Italy, Croatia and the Republic of Ireland.

This is one of the toughest groups in the tournament with current champions meeting the team they deposed from the throne Italy.

Ireland and Croatia both came through the qualifiers and will have nothing to lose and therefore they will cause a lot of problems for Spain and Italy.

Another tough looking group is Group B. Group B brings Holland, Portugal, Denmark and Germany together.

These tough groups will bring a lot of interest to the tournament and click here for some of the sites that will be following this tournament closely.

Croatia to meet Turkey in Euro 2012 playoffs

Croatia were paired with Turkey in the Euro 2012 playoffs draw.

Croatia had finished second behind Greece in their group whilst Turkey finished behind Germany.

The Republic of Ireland will face off with Estonia whilst Portugal will have to navigate past Bosnia.

The fourth playoff will see the Czech Republic meet Montenegro.

The matches will be played in November.

Germany, Italy, Spain reach Euro 2012

Germany, Italy and Spain have qualified for the Euro 2012 tournament after the latest round of qualifying matches.

Germany were the first team to qualify when they beat Austria 6-2 last Friday.

Italy and current champions Spain have now sealed their places at the tournament after wins against Slovenia and Liechtenstein respectively.

Poland and Ukraine are joint hosts of the 2012 edition of the tournament.

Just like Euro 2008, TipsChallenge will run a tipping competition for the tournament.
