North London derby: Spurs vs Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspurs will face a tough challenge when they meet Arsenal in round 7 of the English Premiership.

Spurs are are on a run on three consecutive wins that have catapulted them to sixth on the table but in the Gunners they face a tough challenge.

The Gunners are also desperate for a league win as they currently lie 13th on the table.

A win could take them as high as sixth depending on other results whilst a loss could see them in the relegation zone.

A win for Spurs could see jump one place into fifth depending on other results.

This a crucial match as it a match between two teams trying to finish in the top four places come May next year.

Merseyside derby: Everton vs Liverpool

The first fixture of round 7 of the English Premier League will see Everton host Liverpool for the first Merseyside derby of the season.

The hosts are currently in eleventh place on the table whilst Liverpool are fifth.

In their last fixtures in the last round, Everton lost 2-nil to Manchester City whilst Liverpool beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 at Anfield.

Barca in scoring spree against Borisov

The defending champions Barcelona won by the highest margin so far in the Champions League as they beat BATE Borison 5-nil.

Barca were already 3-nil by half-time as they collected their first full points this season in the competition.

In the same group, AC Milan overcame Viktoria Plzen 2-nil at the San Siro to keep second place in the group.

The other notable results of the round was Real Madrid beating Ajax 3-nil at home.

Last season's runners up Manchester United had to contend with yet another draw as they drew Basel 3-3 in a high scoring draw.

South Africa to host 2013 Nations Cup

South Africa to host 2013 Nations Cup South Africa will host the 2013 Africa Nations Cup after swapping with Libya who were supposed to host the tournament.

The 2010 World Cup hosts were scheduled to host the 2017 edition of the tournament but problems in Libya have meant that they host the tournament earlier.

Morocco were alreadys scheduled to host the 2015 Nations Cup and nothing will change about that.

Equatorial Guinea and Gabon will co-host the next tournament in 2012, the last one in an even year.

Rangnick leaves Schalke

Ralf Rangnick has left his role as Schalke coach due to health reasons.

Rangnick took over the role at Schalke in March this year when he replaced Felix Magath.

Schalke has so far won three matches and lost three.

Ranieri takes over from Gian Piero Gasperini who was sacked after three league matches and five overall.

Inter, Gasperini part ways

Inter Milan has sacked coach Gian Piero Gasperini after three league matches.

Gasperini replaced Leoarnado at the start of the season and his team has played five competitive matches so far, the other two being the Champions League match and the Italian Super Cup.

In the league Inter are currently lying in the relegation zone with just one point.

Gasperini's last match was the 3-1 loss to newly promoted Novara.

Levante stuns Real Madrid

Real Madrid suffered its first loss of the season after a surprise 1-nil loss to Levante.

Ten-man Real lost to a second half goal to a team that is only in its second season in La Liga.

Earlier on Barcelona had won 8-nil at home against Osasuna.

Meanwhile Real Betis and Valencia remained unbeaten after away wins against Sporting Gijon and Athletic Bilbao respectively.

Man United marches on as City stumbles

Manchester United kept their place at the top of the English Premiership after beating third placed Chelsea 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Second place neighbours Manchester City could only draw against Fulham and now lie on the table.

The defending were leading 3-nil by the half time break and despite Chelsea scoring early in the second half, the champions held on to their magnificent home record.

Elsewhere Tottenham Hostpurs pushed Liverpool aside after 4-nil win. This was Liverpool's second successive away loss having lost to Stoke in the last round.

Swansea finally found the back of the net after beating West Bromwich Albion 3-nil to leave the visitors in the relegation zone.

Also Blackburn recorded their first win of the season after coming from behind to beat Arsenal 4-3 at Ewood Park.

First vs third: Man Utd vs Chelsea

League leaders and champions Manchester United meet Chelsea in the fifth round of the English Premiership.

Both teams are unbeaten but Chelsea dropped points against Stoke City in a goalless draw at Britannia Stadium.

Low scoring start for Champions League

The 2011/12 UEFA Champions League started with a low scoring first round with no team scoring more than two goals.

The first round featured eight draws of which two were goalless.

The 2-all draw between defending champions Barcelona and AC Milan saw the highest number of goals scored in a match in the round whilst league high scoring teams like Real Madrid and Manchester could only manage one strike.

Win search: Arsenal vs Swansea

In the fourth round of the English Premiership, Arsenal and Swansea meet with both teams searching for their first win.

The Gunners are still to win this season having drawn one of their first three matches and losing two and one losses was the 8-2 loss to Manchester United.

On the other newly promoted lost their first match but has since drawn the next two albeit goalless draws.

So Swansea are looking for both a win and their first as they go the Emirates.

Germany, Italy, Spain reach Euro 2012

Germany, Italy and Spain have qualified for the Euro 2012 tournament after the latest round of qualifying matches.

Germany were the first team to qualify when they beat Austria 6-2 last Friday.

Italy and current champions Spain have now sealed their places at the tournament after wins against Slovenia and Liechtenstein respectively.

Poland and Ukraine are joint hosts of the 2012 edition of the tournament.

Just like Euro 2008, TipsChallenge will run a tipping competition for the tournament.

Serie A back strike called off

Serie A matches are to be played in the next round at the weekend after the players called off their strike.

The first match of the season will therefore be between the defending champions AC Milan against Lazio.

Last seasons's runners up Inter Milan will play Palermo away whilst Juventus will host Parma.

The first round of the season was cancelled after the players called for strike action.
