Brazil to face Spain in final
Italy got its first clean sheet of the tournament but then failed at the shootout.
Brazil had accounted for Uruguay 2-1 a day earlier.
The losing semi-finalists will now play each other and so Uruguay will fight out Italy for the bronze medal.

Spain to face Italy in semis
The two teams met in the in the Euro 2012 final and then the Italians were no match to the World champions.
In the other semi it will be a South American affair as hosts Brazil face Uruguay.
The FIFA Confederations Cup round 3 produced 20 goals with Tahiti conceding eight. This is turning out to be the Confederation Cup with the most goals scored.
6 goals were scored in the first half whilst 14 were scored after half-time.

Uruguay back in contention in Confed Cup
10 goals were scored in the first half whilst 12 were scored after half-time.
Uruguay beat Nigeria 2-1 and now have a real chance of progressing to the next round with their last match being against Tahiti.
Tahiti has now conceded 16 goals after Spain scored ten past them. They will be trying to limit the damage in their last match against Uruguay.
In Group A, Brazil and Italy have secured places in the semis and their match will just decided who tops the group.
Japan and Mexico remain winless but Japan lost probably the most entertaining match so far, losing 4-3 to Italy.

2013/14 EPL fixture list released
The season will kickoff on August 11 and finish off on 11 May, 2014.
The FA Cup will be played on May 17, a week after season end which leads to the World Cup in Brazil.
Defending champions Manchester United will kickoff their campaign at Liberty Stadium against Swansea.
Of the newly promoted teams, only Crystal Palace will kickoff the season at home. Palace will play Tottenham Hotspurs.
Hull and Cardiff City are away to Chelsea and West Ham respectively.

Socceroos, Korea, Iran secure World Cup places
The three countries join Japan who had already qualified after topping Asian qualifying Group B.
Iran topped Group A whilst South Korea came in second place.
Asian has four and half places and the the teams that finished third in the qualifying groups will play each other with the winner facing the fifth placed South American team.
So Jordan will meet Uzbekistan in the play-off to be played in September.
Nigeria hits six past Tahiti
The Oceania representatives still have to play World Champions and world number one Spain and also Uruguay.
The only team to fail to score in the first round is Japan who lost 3-nil to the hosts Brazil.
8 goals were scored in the first half whilst 8 were scored after half-time.

Man City appoint Pellegrini
The former Real Madrid manager was at Malaga and he managed to get Malaga to the quarter-finals of the the Champions League.
He now joins a City team that finished the seaason in second place having won the title the season before.
City were also runners up in the FA Cup.

So the most number of goals were scored in La Liga with 1091 goals.
The Spanish top flight also had the highest percentage of home wins with almost 50 %. Also in that league Real Madrid did not lose a single home match.
Its also interesting to see that the number of away wins is almost the same across the three leagues. La Liga and Serie A have 107 away wins whilst the English Premier League stands at 106.
The goals per game ratio is lowest in Serie A at 2.6 compared to the highest value in La Liga at 2.9.
Mourinho returns to Chelsea
Mourinho replaces Rafael Benitez who is now at Napoli.
Mourinho leaves Real Madrid where he has been for the last three seasons and won the league in his second year.
This season Real failed to win a major trophy after coming as runners up in both the league and the Copa del Rey.
