El Clasico part one: Real vs Barca

Saturday, 10th December 2011 7:05pm
Real Madrid and Barcelona meet in the first El Clasico of the season at the Bernabeau in La Liga's round 16.

At the moment Real leads Barca by three points but Real has a game in hand.

A win for Real will see them create a six point buffer and its good for the head-to-head at the end of the season.

A win for Barca will see them level with their rivals and will create hope of catching them as they still have to come to the Nou Camp.

Real has a 100% home record from its matches at home whilst Barca has so far struggled on the road.

Barca has won only two matches out of six away from home. The other three were drawn and one was lost.

Manchesters clubs dumped into Europa

Thursday, 8th December 2011 9:38pm
The two Manchester clubs, City and United have failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage and will now play in the Europa League.

Both teams finished third in their groups and for that they get to join the knockout phase of the second tier European competition.

Meanwhile Real Madrid finished the group phase with a perfect record having won all their group matches.

Barcelona's draw against AC Milan means that they dropped two points.

Chelsea's 3-nil win over Valencia ensured that they won the group and Valencia will now play in the Europa Cup.

Villarreal, Otelul Galati and Dinamo Zagreb finished without recording a single point.

Genk drew all its home matches despite heavy defeats on the road.

Spain grouped with Italy at Euro 2012

Saturday, 3rd December 2011 8:26am
The draw for the Euro 2012 has been made and in Group C Spain will be joined by Italy, Croatia and the Republic of Ireland.

This is one of the toughest groups in the tournament with current champions meeting the team they deposed from the throne Italy.

Ireland and Croatia both came through the qualifiers and will have nothing to lose and therefore they will cause a lot of problems for Spain and Italy.

Another tough looking group is Group B. Group B brings Holland, Portugal, Denmark and Germany together.

These tough groups will bring a lot of interest to the tournament and click here for some of the sites that will be following this tournament closely.

Here is the full draw:

Group A : Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic
Group B : Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal
Group C : Spain, Italy, Ireland, Croatia
Group D : Ukraine, England, France, England
