Third vs fourth: Chelsea vs Liverpool

Friday, 27th December 2013 2:49pm
In round 19 of the English Premiership third placed Chelsea will face fourth placed Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors who went into the Boxing day fixtures leading the table have now dropped to fourth following their loss against Manchester City.

Depending on other results a win for Chelsea could see them top the league but a loss could see them drop to sixth on the table.

Also if Arsenal and Manchester City both lose their matches then a win for the Merseysiders could see them top the league and loss drop them to sixth.

Chelsea are coming from a narrow win against Swansea and are still to lose at home.

Liverpool has so far lost three matches on the road.

Wednesday, 25th December 2013 4:03pm
The last match of round 18 of the English Premier League will see third placed Manchester City host league leaders Liverpool.

By the time this match is played the teams positions could have changed but a win for Liverpool will see them restored to the top of the table.

Man City has scored a staggering 35 goals at home and in their last home match they put six past Arsenal.

In Liverpools last home match they won 5-nil against Tottenham Hotspurs and after that match the Spurs head coach was sacked.

Heart stopper: Melb Heart Vs Phoenix

Wednesday, 25th December 2013 3:47pm
One of the key matches of round 12 of the A-League is undoubtedly the match between Melbourne Heart and the Wellington Phoenix.

The two teams occupy the last two positions on the ladder but the Phoenix come into this match following a win in their last match against Sydney FC.

Heart are still to taste a win this season and they are coming from a loss in the Melbourne derby where they lost 3-1.

This would be a winnable game to both teams and especially for Heart who are at home.

A win for Heart by at least a three goal margin will see them move off the foot of the table whilst a win for the Phoenix will still leave them second from last but more importantly they will move further away from the Heart and will be tied on points with Adelaide.

Both teams are coming from a draw in their previous matches in the last round.

Fulham sack Jol

Monday, 2nd December 2013 4:48am
Fulham has sacked Martin Jol after the team lost 3-nil to West Ham and slipped into the relegation zone.

That defeat left the Cottagers in the relegation zone and three points points adrift of Cardiff in 17th place.

Former Manchester United first team coach Rene Meulensteen will take charge of the first team from now on.

Jol joined the Cottagers in June 2011 and had seen his team struggle this season and the West Ham defeat was the fifth in a row hence the slide into the relegation zone.
