Villa maintain fourth place

Sunday, 28th December 2008 1:38pm
There were no big surprises in round 19 from the Boxing Day English premiership matches but Aston Villa's draw against Arsenal meant the Midlands team maintained fourth place.

Villa had to avoid defeat in order to hold on to fourth and they did that the hard way coming from 2-nil down to snatch a draw in injury time.

This was Villa's first scoring draw after having four goalless draws before this match. Interestingly, all Villa's five draws have been at home.

The only team now left with no scoring draws is Bolton Wanderers. Bolton has had two goalless draws so far this season and like Villa both these draws have been at home.

Manchester City's big win over Hull City meant they left the relegation zone.

Stoke took its place after the narrow loss to Manchester United but there are three teams currently on 20 points and so it could be a temporary stay for Stoke.

Stoke's next match is away to West Ham.
